Author Rosanna Turner was looking for a bright and bold cover for her debut romance novel, Romance vs. Reality. She wanted the cover to be clearly recognizable as part of the romance genre, while avoiding the trend of illustrating a thin female protagonist on the cover. We played with the romance themes by leaning into a pink and red palette and a broken heart icon, while the illustrated television speaks to the plot points that revolve around a reality T.V. show.
