Publication design and art direction for the special sections of Portland’s alt-weekly newspaper, Willamette Week.

WW’s Special Sections are perfect bound glossy magazines that go in-depth into various aspects of Portland’s culture. Covering topics like Northwest travel, food and beer, weed, and the iconic Finder Portland guidebook, I designed and art-directed six magazines, seeking out and collaborating with talented photographers and illustrators.

Along with all of the editorial design, I also wrote briefs for photographers and illustrators, worked alongside photographers in the studio or on-site at shoots, and managed timelines for staff writers to adhere to a rigorous production and publishing schedule.

Finder 2018–2019 was a collaboration between myself, editor Lauren Yoshiko, and countless contributing writers and photographers to celebrate the history of Portland as it relates to the city’s current cultural offerings—from food and beverage to shopping and entertainment, Finder was an iconic Portland guidebook and yearbook all-in-one.
